Welcome to the first issue of The Buzz, a newsletter published by the Banksia Grove development team to keep you updated on the events, achievements and initiatives happening in Banksia Grove.
The last twelve months have been an exciting time for Banksia Grove with much happening in and around the estate. Residents and visitors alike will be pleasantly surprised at the progress, presentation and prosperity of the area. Banksia Grove’s project manager Jeremy Cordina has been named the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Young Professional for 2009.
The prestigious annual scholarship worth over $5000 is awarded to a promising young professional who will act as an ambassador for younger professionals working in the property development industry. Banksia Grove has been named finalists in the categories of Affordable Development and Urban Renewal in the 2009 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) WA Awards for Excellence. Banksia Grove project manager Jeremy Cordina said the prestigious UDIA Awards for Excellence recognise the industry’s leading land developments and he was honoured that Banksia Grove was declared a finalist. Banksia Grove Estate has welcomed its first official residents, first home buyers Daniel and Naomi Short with their two children Jacob 5 and Coby 3.
The Short’s purchased a 530sqm traditional home site using the State Government’s shared equity scheme and the first home owners grant late last year and moved into their brand new home three weeks ago. “The estate gives those looking to build a home the choice to be part of a sustainable
community which has a real focus on water efficiency.” - Water Corporation A/Chief Executive Officer Sue Murphy “We lived in Africa for some time, and loved the feeling of having space around us. Between our next stop, Dubai and now in Singapore, it’s something we miss. Banksia Grove’s abundance of natural bushland, which our new home will overlook, was a major draw card.”
- Linda Simpson
AS part of the day’s proceedings, City of Wanneroo Councillor, Laura Gray officially opened the park, stating that the developers have played a pivotal part in developing a sense of community in these early stages of the development.
“When it came time to sell our home in Currambine, I discussed with the kids the option of the city, as they both work in the southern suburbs. They wanted to stay however, because they like the fact that we are close to their friends, their social life and the beach,” said Pauline
