Banksia Grove Welcome Day 2008 Banksia Grove’s newest residents were joined by the
wider community in attending a free family event to
welcome newcomers to the area.Banksia Grove’s Ripplevale Circle Park served as the venue, which featured attractions including the Peel Zoo, free rides, face painting and other entertainment. Families mingled on the day, many forming new contacts with organizational representatives, such as the Banksia Grove Residents Association and the Carramar and Tapping Residents Association whose members were present at the Welcome Day. As part of the day’s proceedings, City of Wanneroo Councilor, Laura Gray officially opened the park, stating that the developers have played a pivotal part in developing a sense of community in these early stages of the development. “The Banksia Grove partners -, the Department of Housing and Works and PRM Property Group and the Walker Corporation, should be congratulated on their initiatives within the development which not only assist the City of Wanneroo in the provision of community facilities, but create a sense of community for the residents who have already moved in to the suburbs,” she said. Each visitor received a Banksia tree sapling or shrub to take home, which developers hope will add to the iconic display of the natives in the area. Tony Naughtin, Banksia Grove Estate general manager said the event is the first in a series of community events planned for Banksia Grove. |
