Imagine your life at Banksia Grove on a typical morning. Imagine that you’ve been here a while, and by now you’re used to the hush and the lack of traffic noise. The clear sounds of the magpies greeting each other are all you can hear.
It’s Saturday, and that means a shopping trip to the Wanneroo Townsite, just five kilometres away. Or, if the whole family’s up and about, a drive down to the beach and into the surf before the sea breeze comes in.
Perhaps someone in the family works at the Town Centre where there are many shops and offices. They could be employed at the new Enterprise Commercial Park, or at one of Wangarra’s long-established factories and workshops. Then again, so many people work from home offices these days. But this is Saturday, and that means family time.
More than likely someone is already on the computer. The ‘fibre to the home’ broadband Internet connection that was installed in every home in Banksia Grove meant you were already connected to the future.
It looks like another perfect day, and sometime this weekend there’ll be a picnic in the park. Why not? There’s so much parkland available. Over 27 hectares of Banksia Grove is set aside for parks, and there’s another 42 hectares of ‘bush forever’ surrounding it. This is truly the Kings Park of the north.
Banksia Grove begins to grow
That’s the future of course, but it’s not far off. The Banksia Grove Local Structure Plan has been put into action and it dovetails into the overall City of Wanneroo Smart Growth Strategy. The aim of its ‘main street’ principle will be to create a focal point and meeting place for the community. This will be the Banksia Grove Town Centre incorporating retail and commercial buildings and leisure facilities.
A town must have a plan, and the Banksia Grove master plan includes support services and activities for families. This means sporting clubs and recreational venues, walking and cycle paths connected to open space, reliable public transport and making the community safe. It’s already underway.
Eventually, a community of 12,000 will call Banksia Grove ‘home’.
Starting afresh means avoiding many of the mistakes of the past. That’s why storm water harvesting and retention of significant areas of natural bush are some of the environmental initiatives built in at Banksia Grove.
A strong focus on environmental sustainability offers healthy and comfortable living options in natural surrounds. Good planning has given us an opportunity to live in harmony with nature and preserve what is precious to us all.
With such a diverse range of residential, employment, educational and recreational facilities so close, at Banksia Grove you can live life to the full.
